Note:  Everything you see on these pages is OLD data from 1996-2001.  We moved our site to the new domain "www.classiczcars.com" and have been using that since 2001.  This site was put back online to show people where we started.  It also provides some of us with some memories of where we started.  -- Mike

Nissan's Second Z Concept - Jan. 2001

October 6, 2001
Well, this summer has been BUSY as heck for me.  Sorry I haven't been updating the pages.

You will be happy to know that our mailing list has been running on our new server for 3-4 months now.  Except for the occasional 10+ minute power outage, we haven't had many problems.

You will be happy to know that I am also working on a new website for the club.  This new site will become interactive and allow members to post their own information (including pictures).  This site was created using Microsoft Frontpage.  It's a nice program, but, it has limitations.  Our new website is powered by Linux, Apache Web Server, PHP, mySQL Database Server, vBulletin, and some special modifications of my own.

Sorry to some of you who missed the web site during the weekend. I had it down to do a little construction at my house. I'm also trying to move the site over to our new server and it's more work than I anticipated.

Anyway, it's all back to normal. I'm also trying to move our mailing list to our own server. The new mailing list software is much easier to manage and un/subscribe for the users...

I'll keep you posted.

This page hasn't been updated in awhile.  Let's see how many changes have been made since Feb?  Here we go.
I updated the forums (bulletin board) with a new software package.  Check it out.  I'm sure you will like the features of the new package much better.  It's got messaging, the ability to log-in, calendars of events, and many other cool features.  Take a few minutes and browse through the posts.
The server has been acting very funny lately.  I think the power supply is going out.  So, what did I do?  I bought a completely new server.  This one has redundant power supplies and a dual-processor capable motherboard.  What can I say, I'm a sucker for ubid.com.  So, if you see the server down in the next few days... it's probably because this current hardware is acting buggy.  It has a tendency to reboot every 3-4 hours.
I also *finally* received my dedicated xDSL circuit today.  It's running at a whopping 1.53 megabits per second.  What does this mean?  More services, baby!  I'm actually considering 240z.org mail.  I also opened up another virtual server on the same machine geared towards motorcycles.  Check it out, it's called cycle-forums.com.  My poor AT&T cable modem wasn't keeping up.  So we needed to get a fast enough connection to carry us into the new world.  In case some of you are wondering, 1.53 mbps is close to a T-1 line.  T-1's run at 1.544mbps.  The new xDSL technology is amazing.  I highly recommend it.
Enough for now, this is already long enough.  Just remember, if you're trying to access the site and it won't respond.... give it a few minutes to finish rebooting.  I'm not going to fix it until the new server arrives.  At that time, I'll move all the services over to the new machine.

The Zcar CD release date has been pushed back due to delays at the production facility.  We under-estimated the time it would take them to complete the project.  Our new release date is scheduled for the beginning of November.  We apologize for this problem and will do what we can to get the CD's out as soon as possible.

We are now taking advanced orders for the Zcar CD!  If you want to get your hands on a copy, jump to the order area now!
The beta-testing went very well and we had minor bugs to report.  However, we were able to determine that our good ol' buddies at Microsoft will not support other OS platforms using long-filenames.  This means that we will need to create a version B for the Mac, Unix, and other operating systems.  So, when you fill-out your order, don't forget to select your operating system!  :)
